The closing and certificate giving ceremony of three-day training program for banking and insurance professionals on Bancassurance and Bancatakaful at the Conference Hall of Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Finance (BIIF). Closing Ceremony of the course was held at the Conference Hall of BIIF on September 24, 2024.
Professor Dr. M Abdul Aziz, Founder Director of BIIF presided over the ceremony while Mr. Musa Al Hafiz, Chairman, Centre for Islamic thoughts and studies; Mr. Mohammad Salim Ullah, Deputy Managing Director (Dev.), Prime Islami Life Insurance Limited attended the ceremony as Guests. Dr. K M Zakir Hossain Shalim Al Azhari, Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator of BIIF also spoke at ceremony.
On the 1st Day of the Course- Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Secretary General of Islamic Economics Research Bureau & Former Director (Research), IBTRA; Mr. Kazi Mortaza Ali, DG Bangladesh Institute of Professional Development; Mr. SM Ibrahim Hossain, Director, Bangladesh Insurance Academy; Dr. AYM Nesar Uddin, Faculty Member of BIIF & Former DMD, Sunlife Insurance Company Limited; conducted sessions on Conceptual Framework of Insurance and Takaful, An Introduction to Bancassurance & Bancatakaful, Risk Management in Insurance/Bancassurance, Shariah Compliance and Governance in Bancatakaful, respectively.
On the 2nd Day of the Course- Abul Kalam Azad ABIA, Managing Director, Takaful Islami Insurance; Mr. Md. Moheuddin, EVP & Head of Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance & Policy Servicing., Akij Takaful Life insurance PLC; Dr. Md. Anowar Hossain Bhuiyan, Associate Professor, Business Studies, National University (NU); Mufti Abdullah Masum CSAA, Founder Director, IFA Consultancy conducted sessions on Life and General Takaful under Bancatakaful, Laws & Guidelines of Bancassurance/Bancatakaful, Marketing of Bancassurance/Bancatakaful Products, Risk Management in Takaful/Bancatakaful Re-Insurance and Retakaful, respectively.
On the 3rd Day of the Course- Mr. Abdul Awwal Sarker, Former Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank & & Former DG, Al-Arafah Islami Bank Training and Research Institute; Mr. Atikur Rahman Khadem, Director, IBTRA; Mr. Ahmed Imran Hasan Loskar, CEO, Actuary Bangladesh; conducted sessions on Business Models of Bancatakaful and Related Risk, Financial Aspects of Takaful/ Bancatakaful, Actuarial Basis of Life and General Insurance/ Bancassurance/Bancatakaful, respectively.
Over two dozen participants participated in the training course from different banks and different insurances. BIIF, an independent research and training institute, was established aiming to produce the expected professionals. It is working with the aim of enhancing the professional skills of Islamic banking, capital market, takaful and business professionals of the country. This academic institution is conducting various courses and workshops to prepare the expected professionals in the financial sector of the country. The BIIF is accredited by the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (IIBI), London, UK.
